Winds of Change Blow New Life Into Port
The public is being invited to share its views on a concept plan for the portside area of the former BHP Steelworks at Mayfield.
Ports and Waterways Minister Paul McLeay said the 90 hectares of land, equivalent to more than 130 rugby fields, would play a crucial part in the future growth of Newcastle Port.
“The concept will support the growth of the Hunter, and will bring around 300 new jobs to the region” said Mr McLeay.
“It lays down the basic guidelines and environmental requirements to pave the way for future development.”
