Development of fresh food mall to begin next week

The next phase of The GPT Group’s $450 million development of Charlestown Square begins next week with work commencing on a new fresh food mall.

When complete, the fresh food mall will be a real foodies’ delight celebrating the best of the Hunter region’s produce and featuring natural décor of timber and bluestone in a market-style setting.

To make way for the construction of the fresh food mall, the lower ground floor at Charlestown Square will close in two stages: the first half on Monday 4 January 2010 with the remainder to follow on Sunday 24 January.

Most retailers will relocate within the Centre and continue trading to ensure customers still have access to a wide variety of stores. In-centre signage will help customers find their favourite stores in their temporary locations. A number of other stores will be closing temporarily and returning with brand new stores in late 2010.
