Newcastle University receives $8.6 million in research funding

The University of Newcastle has secured $8.6 million in grants for 28 research projects as part of the Australian Research Council (ARC) funding program.

Minister for Science and Medical Research Jodi McKay welcomed the funding and said it was an endorsement of NSW’s research institutes and the State Government’s support of the sector.

“The world class work being carried out by our research organisations along with the NSW Government’s investment in science and medical research, has achieved this outstanding result,” Ms McKay said.

“NSW has secured more ARC funding than any other State in Australia in the latest round of funding, which includes funding for Discovery Projects, Linkage Projects and Indigenous Researchers Development.”
