Downer EDI Delivers Record Earnings

The future looks bright for Hunter train builder and construction giant Downer EDI, which has reported a 14.2 percent increase in net after-tax profit of more than $189 million for the year ended June 30, 2009.

The group has major rail operations at Cardiff where Sydney’s new passenger trains are being assembled; Port Waratah; Kooragang Island; an engineering division at Cardiff; and coal operations in the Hunter Valley through its subsidiary Roche mines.

Downer EDI also announced it had more than $14 billion worth of work in hand.
