Traffic welcome in Hunter Street Mall

A plan to open Hunter Street Mall to traffic again has proven to be popular with the public. During its public exhibition, Newcastle City Council’s proposal to make the pedestrian mall a shared zone, with traffic limited to 10kmh, attracted 51 submissions, 44 of which were supportive. The council is now awaiting approval of the proposal, with hopes of having the mall reopened to traffic well before Christmas.
