Region on track for growth

A recently released update of 2006’s Lower Hunter Regional Strategy has indicated recent population boosts and land rezoning has put the region back on track to meet its 25-year target. The strategy set targets to 2031 for the region to accommodate up to 66,000 new jobs, 115,000 new homes and 160,000 extra residents. In the two years to June 2008, an extra 13,7000 people settled in the Lower Hunter and more than 18,000 lots have been rezoned in major release areas since October, 2006.
