Raymond Terrace - a hub for business
Recent developments in Raymond Terrace, has seen the area making its mark as the centre for business in Port Stephens.
In the past 18 months, an ALDI supermarket has opened, a Dan Murphy’s liquor store is under construction and work has begun on a $13 million police station.
Port Stephen’s Council’s Lesley Morris said there had been significant investment in government projects in Raymond Terrace including the new Department of Defence and Department of Community Services buildings.
“Raymond Terrace is designated as a major regional centre in the Lower Hunter Regional Strategy and it is forecast that retail and commercial floorspace will increase over the next decade,” Ms Morris said.
Other developments in the area include a proposed Kings Hill residential development that would accommodate between 10,000 and 12,000 people.
Council was also calling for expressions of interest for the development of a commercial and shopping precinct on the Raymond Terrace sporting fields.
