Port Stephens population boost

The population of Port Stephens has passed the 65,000 mark and based on projections that figure could reach 87,500 by 2021.

Population growth has been highest on the Tomaree Peninsula and at Medowie.

Overall, 92.8 per cent of the labour force was employed with the three most common occupations being technicians and trade workers (18.6 per cent), clerical and administration staff (13.8 per cent) and professionals (13.3 per cent).
