Port Stephens - a mecca for industrial developments
More and more businesses are discovering the benefits of doing business in Port Stephens.
Since 2008, a number of large-scale commercial developments have begun in the area including a $120 million Westrac development.
According to Port Stephens Council head planner David Broyd, more multi-million dollar developments are on the way.
“In the future there could be a significant development of maintenance facilities for the Joint Strike Fighter, probably located on the Defence and Airport Related Employment Zone at Williamtown,” he said.
Mr Broyd said Port Stephens was proving popular for commercial and industrial developments due to its proximity to Newcastle Airport and opportunities provided by the RAAF base.
Westrac project manager David Aspinall quickly recognised the benefits of Port Stephens for business.
“Port Stephens is the ideal location for our project. It’s five minutes from the Pacific Highway and New England Highway in terms of transport and only minutes from Newcastle Airport,” he said.
“For us, a company that has a huge spare parts business, that is invaluable, the time it takes to deliver a part is the same as it takes just to get out of Sydney.”
