A ferry good idea

Lake Macquarie City Council has mooted the possibility of a ferry service on Lake Macquarie.

Cr Hannah Gissane raised the issue and said it would be an important facet of a Lake Macquarie public transport plan. She suggested ferry ports could be based at Warners Bay, Belmont, Toronto and Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery at Booragul.

Mayor Greg Piper said he believed a ferry service would need a State Government subsidy to work.
