Lake to host children's olympics

Lake Macquarie will become the first Australian city to host the International Children’s Games in 2014.

The 48th annual International Olympic Committee event will be held from January 27 to February 2 for competitors aged between 12 and 15.

The 2010 International Children’s Games, being held in Bahrain at the moment, have attracted about 2000 competitors from 35 countries.

The Lake Macquarie event is expected to draw more than 3000 visitors to the region.
