MORE than $60 million will go towards the $94 million expansion of Cessnock Correctional Centre, in a state budget comparatively strong on law and order projects in the Hunter.

The project, to add 250 beds, will receive $61.9 million in 2010-11 to continue construction, Correctional Services Minister Phil Costa said.

St Heliers Correctional Centre at Muswellbrook will receive $650,000 to upgrade its security system and a wastewater treatment system.
